Tom McGlynn & Emily Carter, “I 💔 NY,” 1990, silkscreen print, 20″ x 23″. Available signed or unsigned.
Artist Tom McGlynn writes for the Brooklyn Rail, and directs the socially engaged curatorial organization Beautiful Fields. Emily Carter is the author of the story collection Glory Goes and Gets Some (Coffee House Press, 2000).
This image (a variation on Milton Glaser’s famous “I ♥ NY” logo) was reproduced as the cover of the October 1991 issue of Artforum, which took up the concept of “home” in the wake of the Soviet Union’s collapse. Elizabeth Hess’s essay “No Place Like Home” considered Your House Is Mine alongside other attempts by artists to generate social change in New York.
