Gallery 98 is participating in The Last Party, an exhibition curated by Anthony Haden-Guest spotlighting the “creative ferment” that surrounded the New York club scene in the 1970s and ’80s.
The exhibition includes many of Gallery 98’s favorite artists, such as: Roberta Bayley, Neke Carson, David Godlis, Curt Hoppe, Marc H. Miller, Anton Perich, Marcia Resnick, Bettie Ringma, and Walter Robinson.
Certain to be the star of the show is M. Henry Jones, who recently unearthed from storage and restored his six-foot stroboscopic wheel. The wheel’s photo cut-outs come from Jones’ film “Go-Go Girl” for the band Nervus Rex—a sequel of sorts to his earlier animated film for the Fleshtones’ “Soul City.” Once installed, the spinning wheel will be lit up by flashing strobes.
Come to the opening tomorrow, Wednesday, June 17, 7–11 pm at White Box on 329 Broome Street in Manhattan.
